JOSÉ ALLARD

BFA from The Corcoran School of Art, Washington, DC, MFA from the California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles, CA and PhD in Industrial Design and Multimedia Communication from the Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He was also a lecturer and researcher at the Polytechnic’s Visual Communication Unit. His doctoral thesis addresses the design of public transportation maps and the complexity of its construction and interpretation.

He is an associate professor and researcher at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he is currently the Director of the School of Design. He also leads various consulting projects on information design, wayfinding, visual identity and development of solutions for clients from the public and private sectors. His research has been published in various national and international journals such as Information Design Journal (IDJ), Line Graph (Italy), and ARQ (Chile).
